Large fire at Bruntingthorpe airfield

Fire crews have been tackling a large fire at Bruntingthorpe Airfield.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said on Friday afternoon (25 September), ten fire appliances were at the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform.

A large plume of smoke could be seen coming from the area.

Despite the incident scaling back, people living nearby are still being advised to keep windows and doors closed while crews deal with the fire.

An investigation is underway to establish the cause of the blaze.
