LCCC has taken the decision to cancel its planned pre-season tour of Spain in response to the coronavirus.
They were heading out today for the trip to the Desert Springs resort for warm weather training plus a friendly fixture against Cambridge University, with the group scheduled to return on Sunday, March 22.
The club have decided not to travel following a meeting of senior management, following advice from health authorities and experts.
Leicestershire County Cricket Club Head Coach Paul Nixon said: “The welfare of the players, coaches, staff and their families is absolute paramount in this situation. Based upon this, we do not think it would be wise for the squad to travel to Spain for their tour.
“We would like to thank the resort, our travel partners, the ECB, the PCA and all of the coaching and playing squads for all of their support and understanding. We have already spoken about the possibility of returning next year.”
The club will closely monitor the developing situation and continue to follow government guidelines in relation to all employees and visitors to the Fischer County Ground.
