£700,000 will go towards supporting the Hope Project.

More than £700,000 of funding has been awarded to help support survivors of domestic abuse.

Leicestershire County Council are one of 75 councils across England that has been chosen to receive a share of a £16.6 million Government pot, which aims to strengthen protection for those who have suffered domestic abuse.

The funds will go towards supporting the Hope Project, a multi-agency provision that delivers an all-round support service for men and women from all backgrounds with complex needs, together with dedicated specialist services for Black Asian and Minority Ethnic groups who may be at risk from honour-based violence and forced marriage.

Councillor Lee Breckon, cabinet member for health and wellbeing said: "We’re delighted to have been selected to receive a share of the Government’s fund.

“This funding will allow us to continue to support the Hope Project and provide essential, support to those identified as being in the most vulnerable situations."
