Update 9:37am:
Leicestershire Police have issued the following statement:
"At 7.55am today (Monday 6 September) a report was received of a collision on the M1 southbound between junctions 25 and 24.
"Officers attended and established that a car had left the carriageway of the A453 and subsequently collided with a motorcycle travelling on the M1.
"No-one involved has suffered injuries that are life-changing or life-threatening.
"The M1 southbound was closed but will be reopened. A closure remains in place at Junction 24a."
The M1 is closed southbound between J25 (Risley, near Nottingham) and J24 (Castle Donington, East Midlands Airport) due to a collision involving a car and motorcycle. Police, Ambulance Services and National Highways teams are on scene.
Highways England are diverting motorists via the hollow square symbol:
- Exit at J25 and take the 4th exit.
- Travel west on the A52 via Risley
- At Spondon join the A5111 Raynesway travelling south
- Merge onto the A6
- Join the A50 and travel eastbound
- Re-join the M1 at J24
