A man from Loughborough has been banned from entering any education establishments, pubs and restaurants in Leicestershire.
Darren Vallence appeared at Leicester Crown Court last month and pleaded guilty to seven counts of burglary and three counts of theft.
He was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for two years.
As part of his sentence, 51-year-old Vallence of Maple Road, was issued with a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order, with the following conditions.
- He must not: enter any educational establishments in Leicestershire, including grounds and access pathways, without the express permission of a person in charge of the premises. This includes schools, colleges and Loughborough University.
- He must not: enter any private areas of any pubs or restaurants without the express permission of a person in charge of the premises. This includes rooms and parts of buildings that members of the public would not have general access to during opening hours. Except in the course of lawful employment.
This conviction relates to a series of burglaries and shoplifting offences in the Loughborough area between December 2024 and May 2025.
Vallence stole a computer, alcohol and toiletries during the incidents.
Inspector Charlotte Dickens, of Charnwood Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA), said: “Vallence is a well-known opportunistic thief and has been targeting educational establishments for their lucrative technical/educational equipment. Theft from these educational environments have a direct impact on the learning and education of young persons and the wider educational budgets.
“We are pleased that we have been able to work with the courts to secure this CBO.
“We would encourage anyone who witnesses Vallence breaching these conditions to report it to us. If he fails to adhere to the CBO he could be facing a period in prison.”
