Man dies after rail incident in Nuneaton

A man has died after being hit by a train in Nuneaton this morning.

Nuneaton & Bedworth police were called after concerns were raised for a man who was believed to have been struck by a train. 

Emergency services attended the scene at Leathermill Lane in Mancetter, near Hartshill at 10:50am. 

West Midlands Ambulance service said: 

"We were called to an incident near to Mancetter in Nuneaton at 10.50am and sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers, the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance to the scene. On arrival, crews found a patient. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene." 

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: 

“We were called to an area of the line in Nuneaton at around 10.50am this morning (July 24) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics, but sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. We are not treating the incident as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
