He was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
A man has been sentenced to more than 12 years imprisonment after pleading guilty to five counts of rape and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour.
Tobias Lee, 32, of Macaulay Road, Rothley, was sentenced to 12 years and six months imprisonment after pleading guilty to the offences. He was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
Initially the victim – an adult female - was afraid to report the crimes but after confiding in close family and friends and seeking support, she gave permission for the police to be called.
Support continues to be provided to the victim.
Officer in the case, Police Investigating Officer Anita Vaughan said: “Thanks to the bravery of the victim in reporting these horrendous crimes, we were able to ensure she had the right support available while carrying out a full investigation.
“This led to Lee pleading guilty to the offences and being sentenced.
“If you are a victim of a sexual offence or of controlling and coercive behaviour please know that support is available to you. It is never too late to report to us and we will ensure that full guidance and advice is provided to you while we investigate.
