People in Leicestershire are being reminded to celebrate bonfire night safely this year.

With organised firework displays not taking place due to the pandemic, residents are being reminded to mark bonfire night safely this year.

England's second national lockdown is now in force.

The country's been ordered to stay at home for four weeks - except for education, work, food shopping or exercise. 

Were being urged to do the following if deciding to celebrate the occasion:

Let neighbours know if you are planning a bonfire
Don’t create a bonfire close to trees, hedges, fences or buildings
Ensure wheelie bins are off the street after collection day and make sure it is secure
Stay a safe distance away from fireworks and bonfires
Never hold a lit firework
Only buy fireworks from a legitimate retailer
Always wear gloves when holding a sparkler
Don’t set off fireworks in the street or after midnight on November 5
