"This is a criminal offence and not just harmless fun."
North West Leicestershire Police are warning parents and young people about a challenge which encourages children to steal from shops.
The force has become aware of a new TikTok trend called the ‘Shoplifting Challenge’ and a number of youths have been dealt with by the police in the North West Leicestershire area.
On their Facebook page, North West Leicestershire Police said: "We would encourage any shops who have been victims to report the matter to the police, and for any parents who suspect their children may be involved in this challenge, to remind them that this is a criminal offence and not just harmless fun."
