Charnwood Borough Council says 30 trees have been vandalised at a local beauty spot.
The council said the trees, which were donated recently by the community, had been vandalised overnight on Friday.
The discovery was made by those working at the site who'd recently planted the new trees.
Disappointing discovery this morning. The newly donated trees have been vandalised at Charnwood water last night ☹. @CharnwoodBC @CharnwoodPolice @idverde_GDT #stopdammagingtheenvironment pic.twitter.com/r3RYZyEvZP

It said it would work with the police and the local rangers to identify those responsible.
We are clearly very disappointed by the mindless vandalism at Charnwood Water which has seen 30 trees donated by the community damaged. We will try and save as many as possible & replace the others. @CharnwoodPolice @service_ranger
