Twycross Zoo to re-open when lockdown ends

Twycross Zoo has announced it will be re-opening next Wednesday when the lockdown comes to an end with some additional Tier 3 measures in place.

Visitor numbers will be restricted to 30 per cent of normal capacity and people will have to book a timeslot before visiting.

Online bookings will also be limited to 6 people per booking in line with the ‘Rule of 6’.

It's to comply with the Tier 3 measures announced by the Government yesterday.

A statement on the Zoo's website said: "We’re pleased to announce, in line with government guidance, we are reopening our 100-acre zoo for visitors from Wednesday 2nd December, however there will be some additional tier three measures in place to ensure you can make the most of a Covid-19 Secure day with us.

"We’re very pleased to confirm our Christmas Spectacular event, starting from 5th Dec on selected days, is still going ahead with Santa, Mrs Claus, the elves and our Ice Queen. Please be advised that due to eateries permitted to close, our breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea offering will now be provided as a takeaway option – but it’s still just as delicious!

What COVID SECURE measures are in place at the zoo?

"We’ve restricted visitor numbers further to just 30% of our normal zoo capacity and will carefully consider any increase of this.
All bookings must continue to be made online by selecting an arrival timeslot.

Indoor eateries are open for takeaway options only
Selected indoor animal houses as well as indoor soft play are closed until further notice. Through ways, under government guidance, will remain open
Face coverings must be worn when entering any indoor area including toilets, all walkthroughs, gift shops and collecting takeaway food and drink.
