Police in Nuneaton are looking for a man suspect of throwing a lit fireworks at a woman.
Officers were called at around 8.10pm yesterday evening (Thursday, 29 October) to a report that a man had allegedly thrown a lit firework at a woman on Meadow Street before making off on foot in the direction of the town centre
The firework exploded resulting in the victim, a woman in her 30s, suffering potentially life changing injuries to her face and legs. She was taken to hospital for treatment, where she remains.
The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded puffer jacket and a black face mask.
Detective Inspector Carl Buckley from Warwickshire Police said: “We realise this incident will cause concern to the local community as this was a particularly nasty incident which has left a woman with serious injuries as a result. We are however treating it is an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community.
“While no arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing and we would ask anyone who witnessed the incident yesterday or who may have any information that could help our enquiries to please get in touch either via our website or by calling 101, quoting incident number 320 of 29 October.
“We will not tolerate violent crime of this nature and will do everything in our power to identify the person responsible and bring them to justice.”
