He was reportedly on holiday with his family when he drowned.
The body of a 'hero' father from Woodhouse Eaves has been discovered in Lake Garda more than three weeks after he went missing.
Aran Chada, 51, dived into the water to save his teenage son.
A Guardia Costiera spokesman said: "the drowning... was probably caused by an illness following the rescue that Mr Chada had carried out on the first child, who was in danger".
At the time of Mr Chada's disappearance, neighbours in Woodhouse Eaves, said: "They have been part of the village for years. It is just very, very tragic."
Coastguard commander Antonello Ragadale described him as a "hero".
