Police and recovery teams worked on the road for around 5 hours this morning (27th April 2021) to clear the stranded lorry.

Traffic is now flowing both ways after delays near Nutts Lane, Hinckley and the Dodwells roundabout.

The incident happened after 5am this morning (27th April), with police being called to assist.

'Most-bashed bridge'

The bridge is one of two in Hinckley which are often victim of lorries getting stuck under beneath them, despite signs pointing out the low bridge.

Last year Network Rail christened the bridge 'Britain's most-bashed' after being hit on average once a fortnight, 25 times in total for all of 2019/2020.
