First ever vegan market heads to Loughborough

Loughborough will welcome a vegan market to the town for the first time this Sunday.

The event will take place on May 15th after being postponed in February due to high winds.

It is being run by Vegan Market Co. in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council will bring together over 30 stalls of vegan street food, artisan bakers, craft cheeses, handmade cosmetics, ethical clothing and jewellery as well as zero-waste champions and environmental charities plus much more.

Gluten free options are available and well-behaved dogs are welcome. The event is also fully wheelchair accessible.

The event will run in Loughborough Market Place from 10.30am until 4pm.

Cllr Jenny Bokor, lead member for Loughborough said: “We are really looking forward welcoming the Vegan Market. Co and the fantastic wide range of different stallholders to Loughborough.

“We were obviously disappointed when the event had to be postponed earlier this year because of the forecast of high winds.

“The Vegan Market is definitely not one to miss and I would encourage people to put the date in their diaries.”

Loughborough town centre hosts a retail market every Thursday and Saturday and a Vintage Market every Friday.  

The Council is keen to hear from zero-waste champions and traders selling vegan produce and products who may be interested in standing on one of the region’s largest markets.

If you are interested in trying your hand at being a market trader, the Council runs its Try a Trade scheme.
