Loughborough picks up a gold medal at Britain in Bloom national awards

This is the fourth time Loughborough has achieved the accolade following successes in 2014, 2016 and 2019.

Loughborough's green spaces have been recognised at a national awards ceremony.

The town was awarded a Gold Medal at this year’s Britain in Bloom finals which took place in Manchester on Monday, 21 October.

Loughborough was selected to represent the region in the ‘small city’ category at the awards which are organised by the Royal Horticultural Society.

Pat Cook, chair of Loughborough in Bloom, said: “I am so proud of everyone involved in Loughborough in Bloom and it is fantastic that everyone’s hard work has been recognised at these finals.

“The work that we do isn’t just about helping to maintain our open spaces in the town but it is also about community and being proud of where you live. We work with many different volunteering organisations and groups and I would like to thank them for all of their efforts.”

The judges for Britain in Bloom visited Loughborough in August and were shown around the open spaces in the town including Queen’s Park and Forest Road Greenbelt.

This is the fourth time that Loughborough has achieved gold at the Britain in Bloom finals following successes in 2014, 2016 and 2019.

Loughborough was also presented with an ‘Overcoming Adversity’ award following the flooding in the town earlier this year.

Bath was the overall winner in the small city category.
