Police closed both carriageways of the M69 in Leicestershire on Monday afternoon following a police pursuit of a car.
A statement from Leicestershire Police said: "At around 3.45pm on Monday 14th December officers were involved with an authorised pursuit of a stolen vehicle.
"The car came off the M69 at junction 2 and collided with street furniture on the roundabout.
"A youth who is believed to have been an occupant of the car was subsequently detained by officers on the M69 motorway beneath the roundabout. He had injuries that are described as non-life-threatening or life-changing.
"Colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and the youth was taken to hospital.
"A second youth was injured in the collision and was also taken to hospital for treatment.
"No other reports of injuries have been received and no other vehicles were involved.
"Two youths have been arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.
"The M69 was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident – it has since been reopened."
