"This substantial new investment will ensure the hot water and heating in this important facility is brought right up to date."

Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton is having new commercial heat pumps installed to replace existing gas boilers, along with a new air management scheme.

The Government grant will pay for the £3.45 million investment, alongside a further £460,000 investment by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

Pingles is the biggest leisure centre in Nuneaton and has around 50,000 visitors each month.

Kevin Hollis, Strategic Director for Public Services at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said: “The existing gas powered boilers at Pingles Leisure Centre are approaching the end of their useful life, and this substantial new investment will ensure the hot water and heating in this important facility is brought right up to date.

“We want to help make Nuneaton and Bedworth a great place to live, work and visit, and alongside our investment in the track and lights at Pingles, and all the work ongoing in Bedworth Miners’ Welfare Park, we will have sports facilities that will be the envy of this part of the world.”

Ian Rodger, Salix Director of Programmes, said: “We have no time to waste in meeting our challenging net zero targets and we are looking forward to working with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council to deliver this ambitious project, which will go a long way towards delivering on the Council’s Net Zero ambitions.

“This project means that this important building, which is so well used in the community, will be more energy efficient as well as becoming an even better place for local people to use.”
