It happened on Sunday evening.
Detectives have been carrying out full enquiries including speaking with witnesses, carrying out CCTV trawls and house-to-house enquiries.
Police received a number of reports Sunday (16 February) night of cars racing in the area of Blaby Road and Ashton Drive.
It was reported that a number of men in some of the cars were in possession of guns.
Armed officers were sent to the scene.
It's believed two men were injured in the incident, one aged in his 50s and one aged in his 20s, had suffered serious gunshot injuries.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, they remain in hospital.
A silver Mitsubishi car has been recovered in the area of Ashton Drive.
Initial reports also described three other cars in the area. They were two dark-coloured BMW vehicles and a silver Audi vehicle.
Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “Significant enquiries remain ongoing by a dedicated team of officers and staff to establish the wider circumstances.
“We have had a number of people reporting information to us and I am extremely grateful for this and thank you for working with us. We are acting on the information received and remain determined to establish the full facts of what has happened and who is responsible.
