Households across Charnwood are being encouraged to start using their new kitchen caddies as weekly food waste collections get underway from today Monday, 2nd November.
Weekly food waste collections are starting across Charnwood from today 2nd November 2026, with residents being reminded to make use of their new kitchen caddies.
Most households will be able to put out their food waste for collection every week, helping to turn everyday scraps and leftovers into something useful.
Residents can put all kinds of food waste into their caddies, including banana skins, vegetable peelings and leftover food from meals.
The collected waste can then be processed to generate energy and produce nutrient-rich compost for farmers.
Households are being encouraged to use the supplied liners in their indoor kitchen caddies to help prevent smells and mess.
Caddy liners will be supplied to households every six months.
There is no change to existing bin collection days, so residents should continue putting their bins out on their usual collection day.
