Did you walk along the Coventry canal towpath last week?

The man is believed to have pushed her into a nearby bush where he raped her.

The suspect then continued walking along the towpath with the victim before pushing her into a second bush and sexually assaulting her.

Detective Inspector Owen Fell said: "This was an incredibly nasty incident for the victim and we’re providing her with all the support we can at this time.

“A thorough investigation has begun to establish exactly what happened and we’re looking for anyone who was walking along the towpath between 6.30 pm and 7.15 pm to get in touch.

“It’s believed a couple may have stopped to talk to the man as he was walking with the woman and we’re particularly keen to speak to them.

“We also understand some members of the public and dog walkers may have passed the man and woman so we would encourage them to make contact if they can help." 

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, around 5ft 9in tall, of medium build and with short blond hair.

It is believed he had brown eyes and was wearing grey shorts and a grey top at the time of the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing and the woman is being supported by specially trained officers.
