A man's died following a crash in Kegworth.

It happened in Ashby Road yesterday morning and involved a car and a motorbike.

The road was closed between its junctions with Suthers Road and Packington Hill but has since reopened.

The motorcyclist, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman and a girl in the car were taken to hospital and treated for injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

Detective Sergeant Gary Haines, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

He said: “I’d like to speak to anyone who was travelling along Ashby Road between 8am and 8.15am today. I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who has a dashcam installed in their vehicle.

“Ashby Road is a residential area and this happened at a time when people will have been going to work or school. I’d like to speak to anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision occurring – or who witnessed the collision.

“Any information you have could help with my investigation.”
