A Warm Welcome to the Community

Residents across Hinckley and Bosworth are being encouraged to make use of the borough's extensive network of Community Welcome venues, offering warm, friendly spaces to meet others, enjoy refreshments, access support services and take part in activities throughout the year.

Public buildings and community spaces across Hinckley and Bosworth continue to provide a warm welcome for residents through the borough's successful Community Welcome initiative.

Running as the Warm Welcome programme from October to March, the initiative ensures that anyone who needs a welcoming place to spend time can access free, heated spaces where they can socialise, enjoy a hot drink and connect with others in the community.

From April to September, many of these venues continue to operate as Community Welcome sessions, providing friendly spaces for people of all ages to meet, relax and take part in activities. During warmer weather, several locations also offer cool spaces where visitors can stay comfortable on hot days.

Many venues provide refreshments, with some offering snacks or light meals for a small charge. Visitors may also have opportunities to enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, board games and social groups, while making use of computers and free Wi-Fi.

In addition to providing welcoming community spaces, the venues offer access to information, guidance and support on a range of topics including energy efficiency, wellbeing, money management and budgeting.

The initiative has received strong support from local communities, with more than 50 venues across the borough delivering over 100 sessions every week. The network includes a diverse range of organisations, including community centres, churches, village halls, community libraries, charities and leisure facilities.

Community Welcome venues are open to everyone and are located throughout the borough, including:

  • Barlestone, Barwell, Botcheston, Burbage and Carlton
  • Desford, Earl Shilton and Groby
  • Higham on the Hill and Hinckley
  • Market Bosworth, Markfield, Nailstone and Newbold Verdon
  • Ratby, Sheepy Magna, Stanton under Bardon, Stoke Golding, Thornton, Twycross and Witherley

The list of Community Welcome venues is updated regularly to ensure residents have access to the latest information on locations and session times.

Organisations with a suitable venue in Hinckley and Bosworth that would like to join the initiative are encouraged to complete the Warm Welcome contact form and help expand the network of welcoming spaces available to local residents.

By bringing people together and providing accessible support, the Community Welcome initiative continues to play an important role in strengthening community connections and promoting wellbeing across the borough.
