UHL said they will be unable to do a blood test if you attend without an appointment from Monday.

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trust said: "The new process will improve patient experience and reduce waiting times during busy periods. People attending UHL outpatient appointments and who require a blood test will not be required to pre-book their appointment.

"Unfortunately, we will be unable to do your blood test if you attend without an appointment from this date."

To book a slot, patients should email: bookingcentre@uhl-tr.nhs.uk or call 0300 303 1563 with the following information:

  • Name and date of birth
  • GP details
  • Preferred site to attend (Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital or Leicester General Hospital)
  • Preferred date/time
