A 31-year-old Leicester man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody and is being questioned.
Initial enquiries suggest the victims and the suspect had all been attending a private event nearby before the incident. The car believed to be involved was later found and recovered from Margaret Street.
Detective Inspector Jenny Tattersall said:
“We understand the serious concern there will be about this incident... We do ask that people do not speculate about this incident, including on social media, in order to allow a thorough investigation to take place.”
A large police cordon remains in place on De Montfort Street as forensic teams continue their investigation. Officers are also in the area to speak with members of the public and provide reassurance.
