Officers want to trace two silver vehicles that were at the scene after the collision.
The pedestrian, a woman in her eighties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.
The driver was not injured and is assisting with police enquiries.
DC Kasie Carter, the investigating officer, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision or seen the vehicle or the pedestrian beforehand to get in touch.
“As a result of early enquiries, CCTV footage near to the scene has been viewed. We are particularly keen to trace two silver vehicles that appeared on the scene a short time after the collision.
“I would urge the drivers to get in touch, the smallest bit of information may be helpful to the investigation.
“I am also interested in hearing from any drivers who have a dashcam in their vehicle and may have captured anything connected to this incident.”
