The community was meant to come together at All Saints Parish Church.
The Mayor of Charnwood’s Community Carol Service will be shown online only due to the pandemic.
Organisers had been planning to have a reduced capacity audience at All Saints Parish Church, however, due to the increasing number of Covid cases, the decision was made to move the event online.
The Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Paul Baines, said: “We were really looking forward to welcoming people to the carol service but due to the increasing number of Covid cases around the country we feel it is a sensible decision to make this a virtual-only event.
“The Church will be broadcasting the service live so I would encourage people to tune in, get a bit of festive cheer and if you are able support my chosen charities Living Without Abuse and Marie Curie.”
The service, which will feature the choir from the Leicester LGBT Centre, starts at 7 pm and will be live-streamed to YouTube.
