It happened on Station Road earlier this week.
Around 12.30pm on Tuesday 15 June a man driving an older-model Peugeot 308 along Station Road allegedly made a racially-aggravated comment towards, and spat at, a male delivery driver he was passing.
He then drove away.
PC Justin Taylor said: “This was a distressing incident for the delivery driver and we are keen to hear from anyone with any information about this incident.
“It happened in the middle of the day when many people are likely to have been out and about.
“Anyone who was in the area of Station Road at the time, saw a blue Peugeot 308 or captured it on dash cam, please get in touch.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting reference 21*332006.
