It's part of the ongoing Bedford Square project.
The first phase of work on Ward’s End will involve paving work starting in Ward’s End on the west side (same side as the Moon and Bell pub) beginning today (16th August).
The works will involve laying new kerbs to widen the footways on the western side of the road and then laying granite paving.
This phase of the works on Ward’s End will start at Devonshire Square down to Bleach Yard and will not require any road closure. However, to make sure the road can stay open and create a safety zone for the workforce and pedestrians and ramps into the shops, all current on-street parking on Ward’s End, between the junction with Woodgate and South Street, (about 13 spaces) will have to be suspended. This also applies for Blue Badge holders.
Free parking for an hour is is still on offer at Beehive Lane car park.
