Police appeal after woman found deceased on M1

Part of the M1 was closed on Thursday due to a police incident.

Leicestershire Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found on the M1 motorway.

Police received a call at 5.10 am on Thursday 18 January from a motorist travelling along the M1 southbound carriageway at junction 22 to report a body in the road.

Emergency services attended the scene and confirmed the body was a deceased woman.

Officers investigating the incident are appealing to anyone who may have seen the woman before her death to get in touch.
